International Management programme: MBA - MSc - Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Certificate

Occasional Students 

If you wish to ‘sample’ the programme or take individual courses, perhaps for professional updating or special interest, you may apply to take between one and three individual subjects as an Occasional student.  

The entrance requirements for Occasional students are the same as those for the Postgraduate Diploma or MBA in International Management. The Application Form and process of applying is also the same. 

An applicant who is suitably qualified may apply to be registered as an Occasional student of the International Programmes to study a maximum of three individual courses (other than Business research methods / research report) and at the discretion of the Course Organiser, may be accepted. 

Once accepted, all University Postgraduate General and Degree / Diploma Regulations apply. Occasional students are permitted a maximum period of  two years to complete the course(s) they have selected. The assessment and examination process and standard for Occasional students is the same as for students registered directly onto the Postgraduate Diploma. Occasional students will receive an individual notification of their result in each subject, and successful students will be sent a certificate.   

It should be clearly understood that subsequent transfer onto the Postgraduate Diploma is at the sole discretion of the University and successful completion as an Occasional student of a subject within the programme does not in itself automatically satisfy the requirements for entry, or ensure the award of credits. 

Occasional students who are subsequently admitted to the programme and who pay the fees due, will be granted a new five year period of registration to complete the programme. 

The Occasional student route may also be considered by the University for applicants who do not have the usual academic qualifications to join directly onto the MBA or Diploma. Under these circumstances, applicants will need to provide evidence of ability to undertake an advanced course of study and may initially be required to take courses as an Occasional student in order to qualify for consideration for entry to the Postgraduate Diploma.
