Information about the University of London International Programmes

International Management programme:
MBA - MSc - Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Certificate

You can apply for this MBA, MSc or Postgraduate Diploma/ Certificate at any time of year, although the University must receive your application plus all documentary evidence and references in London by:

31 July – if you want to take your first examination in May (of the following year)
OR
31 January – for a first examination in October.

If your application form or documentary evidence/references are received after these dates you will have missed the deadline for exam registration and may have to postpone your first examination until the next sitting.

How to apply

You can either complete and return the application form by post, or you can now apply online.

Application by post

1. Complete the Application Form (210 KB;pdf; new window) and, together with all the documentation listed on page 6 of the form, submit it by post to:

Note: faxed applications are not accepted.

If you unable to send all the documentation with your application form please enclose a letter with the form giving the reasons.

You may request a prospectus to be posted to you ---here---. You will find an application form stapled in the middle of the prospectus.

2. Send a referee’s report form to your two referees at the same time, or before you send your application to London. Ask them to complete the forms and send them direct to the Postgraduate Admissions Office at the above address.

3. The University will acknowledge receipt of your application form and send you a student number to use as a reference whenever you contact the University. Everyone who applies is allocated a number. You should receive an acknowledgement within three weeks of posting your application, but if you do not please contact the Postgraduate Admissions Office. Please give your full name, the programme for which you have applied and the date you posted your form to help the University in identify your application.

4. Your application will be considered only when the University has received all of your documentary evidence and both references. After due consideration you will be told if your application has been successful or not. If there is a delay in sending in any of the documentation or your references, the University will have to wait to receive them before they can begin considering your application. This is because the University need to have as much information about you as possible before the University can reach a decision.

5. If your application has been successful the University will send you:

  • an offer of registration telling you that your application has been accepted and that you have two years in which to register
  • a fee slip for the registration and course fees
  • a registration form on which you indicate your choice of courses
  • a copy of the Regulations.

6. To register, complete the registration form and fee slip. Return them, as soon as possible, along with the registration fee and the course fees for the courses you will be taking at your first examination, to:

Although you can register and buy the materials for courses at any time of year, the fees for both must be received by:

15 October – if you want to take your first examinations in May (of the following year)
OR
15 March – for a first examination in October.

7. The University will send you the study materials for your first courses, by courier, as soon as possible after the University receive the appropriate fees.

Exemptions

You may be able to apply for ‘exemption[pdf: 7pgs, 92KB; new window] - also known as ‘credit transfer’ or ‘advanced standing’ at other institutions - from up to 20% of these programmes if you have covered a similar syllabus in the same breadth and depth as part of a previous qualification, which has been awarded within the past five years preceding your application for exemption.

Translation of Certificates and Transcripts

If your certificates and transcripts are printed in a language other than English you will need to have them officially translated into English. Official translators are usually listed in local telephone directories. When you have located one near to you, take your original certificates and transcripts to their office. The Translator should take a copy of the originals and stamp / emboss them with an official seal and sign them. The originals should be returned to you.  

After the translation into English is complete, the Translator should stamp / emboss these with the same official seal and sign them. Each of the stamped / embossed / signed documents both in English and the original language should be sent to the University in London in support of your application.

If it is a Master level programme which you are applying to join, your official translations will not be sent back to you. If it is a Bachelor level programme which you are applying to join and you would like the official translations returned to you, add the sum of GBP5 to your Application Handling Fee and the University will return them to you by Recorded Delivery.
